What is a Birth Doula ?
A trained professional who provides emotional and physical support to expectant mothers before, during and shortly after the delivery of her baby. She attends the labor with the mother and is her personal labor coach.
What is a Postpartum Doula?
A postpartum doula is a professional trained in the needs of the family in the days, weeks and months after birth or new baby, assisting with diaper changing, feeding, preparing meals, light house keeping, holding baby while moms rest etc.

What is the purpose of this Birth Doula Workshop?
This course will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to begin your journey as a professional, caring doula to your clients as you help them transition through pregnancy, labor, birth and motherhood.
Who is this course for? Women who feel led to support expecting mother's and want to become a doula. It's for women who have the passion to do this kind of work and desire the full understanding so they can work for themselves and their clients.
Where is the training located?
The Birth Doula workshop will be online. You will meet with Ebby virtually for the next once a week for 4 weeks (i.e every Saturday or Sunday for 4 weeks online via zoom).
How long are your workshops? They range from 4 to 5 weeks depending on the size.
Are doulas required to become certified?
No, actually certification is not required and you are not required to be licensed to become a doula. However it is recommended if you are interested in being a doula to take a doula or labor support course or training.
Is your training compatible with other certification programs?
Our curriculum varies we offer evidence based research to spiritual and traditional components to it. Although we may offer some similar training it varies. Every trainer may offer a slight different coarse. I also come with my own experience and education in this field throughout my 7 years of being a doula. I also have over 15 years of experience working with women and children. I enjoy facilitating workshops and inspiring others to do work they love. It is up to you to connect with a company or community that resonates with you.
Do you hire doulas?
No I do not hire doulas. You are not an employee. You work independently for yourself; however doulas that take our course and pass may have the opportunity to receive referrals.
If doulas are non-medical why does this training contain some medical information?
As a doula sometimes people may ask you medical questions. It’s good that you have some knowledge on medical information for yourself and clients. Doulas do not offer medical advice but it’s always recommended to continue studying and learning .
Is this course recognized by DONA?
I was Trained by Amadoma Bediako who is accredited by DONA international. I also became a certified birth Doula with DONA. I respect the principles of DONA and also follow their code of ethics for doulas. However this is not a DONA specific training. Ebby’s Lounge is an independent training that is offered to women who are interested in becoming a doula.
What does this Workshop consist of?
Ebby’s Lounge Birth Doula Training is an intensive four day curriculum in a expand of 4 weeks. Meeting virtually once a week online via zoom . We will see each other and have the opportunity to interact and engage in discussion.

Would I receive a certificate once I complete the workshop? Once you have completed the workshop and taken the assessment ,you will receive a certificate of completion. . Within the 12months it is recommended that you attend at least 3 births. This workshop does not take away from you attending or participating in any other workshop, it is geared to inspire you to do what you know has been in your heart (to get started as a doula)and as you gain the information, confidence and knowledge of how to assist your clients you will be inspired to help the women & families you feel led to in your community.
Once you complete and pass the assessment not only will you receive a certificate of completion to the workshop you will also receive a my sample birth doula contract template ( to avoid the time it took me to figure out how to create my own) as well as a birth plan.
